A Visit with Daisy Wettermark

“Saving the Oldest Town in Texas” is a historical novel about Col. Benjamin Wettermark, who was the most trusted man in Nacogdoches.  That was true until 1903, when he robbed his own bank and left his wife, his children and his mansion behind.  Then he became the scoundrel whose face was on the front page of every newspaper in the United States.

Author Linda Thorsen Bond will be at the Texas Blueberry Festival Saturday, June 8 signing books in The Bosslight Book Store from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. At 12:30 Dr. Bond will be on the stage inside Commercial Bank of Texas in costume and in character as that scoundrel’s wife, Daisy Sutton Wettermark.

Bond has written 20 historical plays, including five in Nacogdoches. Last year, a historical play she wrote was made into a television documentary and won two national Telly Awards. She taught in the Department of Mass Communication at SFA from 2002-2018. She and her husband Bruce Partain, former executive director of the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce, live in San Angelo.
